Assessing caries risk

Assessing caries risk is a prerequisite for further individual dental care.

We record indices, examine the teeth (crowding, surface structure, condition of existing fillings and more), and ask about diet, brushing habits and other factors.

Transillumination

Cold light can shine through the spaces between teeth, making decay visible without radiation. In some cases this method provides additional information, but it does not replace X-rays.

Digital X-rays

Especially for children, reducing radiation exposure with modern, environmentally friendly X-ray technology is a principle of responsible dental care.

Diagnodent

This non-contact examination uses a laser to assess teeth. Red laser light passes into the tooth, is reflected by its structure, returns to the device and is analysed. Healthy and decayed tooth structure reflect light differently, allowing very small defects to be detected.
